Meet us on the courts!

Pickleball is a sport in which two, three, or four players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a perforated polymer ball over a net. The sport shares features of other racquet sports, the dimensions and layout of a badminton court, and a net and rules similar to tennis, with a few modifications.

PICKLEBALL PROS

Jay Lateko

CERTIFIED TEACHING PROFESSIONAL IPTPA

Jay has been involved with the Pickleball community since 2016 and has over 30 years of experience coaching tennis and pickleball from beginners to advanced tournament-level players of all ages. He is Level 2 IPTPA certified and is passionate about spreading the joy of pickleball from recreational to competitive. Joseph Reliford

I started playing pickleball at the end of 2023 and quickly discovered not just a love for the sport, but also a deep appreciation for the community it creates. What began as a fun hobby turned into a true passion. Today, I’m a pickleball coach at Chicken N Pickle, working primarily with beginner and intermediate players to help them build strong fundamentals while enjoying every step of their journey. I believe great technique and having fun go hand in hand, and that’s the energy I bring to every lesson. Looking ahead, my goal is to open my own pickleball facility where I can continue growing the game, building community, and helping more people discover the joy of pickleball.

Max Kuentz

Working at Chicken N Pickle for two years, Max has had the opportunity to instruct new players through Clinics, Skills & Drills sessions, host Kids’ Camps, coordinate and manage leagues and tournament play. Additionally, he has assisted in court management at multiple National Pickleball League events. Max has a strong belief that Pickleball will soon be found on High School and College campuses and be a featured sport in the Olympics.

Marcelo Esparza

LEVEL 1 IPTPA CERTIFIED TEACHING INSTRUCTOR

Marcelo has been playing pickleball for a little over 5 years and has partnered with different individuals to play in sanctioned and unsanctioned tournaments and has been very successful in winning numerous gold, silver, and bronze medals. While Marcelo enjoys playing the game of pickleball, he enjoys teaching others how to play pickleball even more. “It gives me a great thrill when a student’s face lights up after consistently hitting a shot he or she has been practicing. My goal is to not only teach others how to play pickleball but to play the game fairly and to be a good stewards of the game.”

Melissa Burleson

I love pickleball! I was previously an elite tennis professional and director of racket sports and aquatics, but now it’s all about pickleball. I am a level 2 certified instructor and I love teaching anyone, from beginners to advanced players. I enjoy seeing their love of the game and the satisfaction of improving. Just keep moving!
