Chicken N Pickle is a unique, indoor/outdoor family entertainment complex that includes a casual, chef-driven restaurant and sports bar, pickleball courts and professional instruction, space for live entertainment, a variety of yard games and space to lounge outdoors with (or without) your dog. Each venue offers indoor and outdoor space for public and private parties and hosts an impressive schedule of events including concerts, charitable fundraisers, watch parties and more.

In December 2015, our founder, Dave Johnson, took a trip to Phoenix to visit a friend. During his stay, he was introduced to pickleball. Although his friend had only recently started playing, he mentioned the many friendships he had already formed with other pickleballers and that he was on the courts 3 or 4 times a week.
Soon, Dave realized that no matter when he walked by the courts there was always a pickleball match in play. That’s when the wheels really started turning. Not only were the courts always full of people, they were also always full of energy and genuine camaraderie. Dave learned the game in a few hours and was hooked!
He returned to Kansas City where he and his team began researching pickleball. They learned it was on track to become the fastest growing sport in America, found the land for our first Chicken N Pickle location and recruited long-time KC restaurateur, Bill Crooks. Together, they called on their networks of industry professionals to assemble our founding team and today, the work toward bringing people together over a delicious, wood-fired rotisserie chicken, a cold beer, & some friendly competition continues.
