Lesson Testimonials

Marcia Neishi, newly certified IPTPA instructor

“I had the absolute pleasure of being tested by Andy Gensch for my IPTPA teaching certification. He was nothing but professional in his approach and his kind demeanor made me feel at ease & comfortable. The valuable feedback that he provided as well as interjecting his teaching & philosophies during the testing time was an added bonus to an already great experience. Andy is a great asset to IPTPA & to the pickleball community. I feel very privileged to have met him!”

Sandy Bradfield

“Andy is an excellent teacher. He was friendly, very positive, and interested in what I identified as my needs. During the lesson, Andy addressed my identified need areas and other basics of pickleball. My lesson was very well organized with lots of practice. There was time for questions and answers on both Andy and my part. I believe what makes Andy such a good instructor is that during the final 10 minutes we reviewed through practice everything taught during the lesson and a plan of action was developed. ”

Herb Hodes

“After never holding a pickleball paddle in my life, I had the pleasure of taking an introductory lesson from Andy last week. He is a great ambassador of the sport and was very patient and enthusiastic in teaching me the fundamentals of the game. I can’t wait to finish my move to Arizona where I plan to continue to play and learn the game.”

Kimetris Baltrip

“My family and I had the most wonderful time at Chicken N Pickle, especially since we trained with Angy Gensch. Although he is a professional player, Andy worked with us without any pomp or circumstance. He is so down-to-earth and absolutely never derided us when we played poorly. Rather, he used his expertise to affirm our good moments and constructively critique our weakness. He taught us so much about the strategy of “smart” pickleball play and we left his tutelage felling all the wiser. Andy is patient, kind, personable, friendly and excellent as a coach and player. He worked as easily with our 9-year-old son as he did with my husband and I. And of course when our son teamed with Andy, they beat us every time. But more than the competition, we enjoyed watching Andy teach our son en route to their wins. Andy and the entire staff made us feel at home. If you want a fun, family-friendly atmosphere, go to Chicken n Pickle. If you want to enhance your time there and learn how to up your pickleball game, train with Andy Gensch!! You won’t regret it. We’re going back when we can”

Cara Terrell

“My husband and I are our two friends are new to pickleball and had been playing for only a few weeks when we took the opportunity to get a private lesson from Andy. Not only did we discover that we were confused on a couple of rules but we really didn’t have any understanding of the strategy of the game. In less than an hour, we were able to keep the ball in play much longer and enjoy the game even more. We are looking forward to putting our new found knowledge and skill to test on the court.”

-Cara Terrell

David Schirk

“I took an hour-long lesson from Andy a couple of weeks ago because I wanted to take my game to the next level. I was an experienced tennis player so I had decent skills, to begin with, yet, I was not a true “pickleball player”.

We covered many different areas in our lesson but focused on the drop shot and the dink game. Andy was able to spot and help correct a flaw in my drop-shot technique, and in not time I hit twelve in a row from the baseline. The lesson was an excellent workout, and in between drills he would talk about strategy, as well, like the offensive dink and the importance of being patient.

He also helped me find some competitive games, which I did two days later. I was able to immediately put my new-found skills to use and more than held my own against some very experienced players. The 3rd shot drop shot is now a permanent part of my game and feels natural, now.”

-David Shirk

Jenna and Tim Wilkinson

“Andy did an excellent job explaining the rules and fundamentals of the game to two newcomers. I would totally recommend an introductory lesson! We had a blast and can’t wait to get back out on the court and continue to improve our game.”
